ABS-acrylonitrile butadiene is an amorphous polymer obtained by emulsion or mass polymerization of acrylonitrile and styrene in the presence of sterol, polybutadiene. The most important characteristics of ABS are shock and fracture resistance.
ABS is usually characterized by three main characteristics:
• Fluidity
• Heat resistance
• impact resistance
Styrene monomer gives ABS good processing ability, acrylonitrile ensures its hardness, thermal and chemical resistance, and butadiene makes the final product shock-resistant and elastic even at low temperatures. Changing the percentage of ABS components and adding special additives makes it possible to obtain different varieties of this product with special properties. ABS does not offer sufficient weather resistance and is therefore only recommended for indoor use.
Typical applications for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) include:
• General purpose: toys, consumer goods, phones, hats
• Car: interior door panels, columns, upholstery for seats, grilles, instrument panels, window bodies
• Household appliances: kitchen cabinets, vacuum cleaner cases, control panels for large household appliances
• Molding products: sheet materials, shower cabin, tractor roofs, furniture edges, refrigerator interiors, suitcases
