LDPE

Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic of the polyolefin family, with the largest share in the production of polymers. The blown method produces film for packaging, durable packaging products-bags, shrink films, agricultural films are produced. In multilayer films, it is used as a vapor barrier, polyethylene coatings are used as a binder, for example with EVA, EAA or EEA. Production method:

LDPE is produced by radical initiated polymerization of ethylene. The reaction is carried out at high pressure (1500-3000 atm) and high temperature (80-300 0C), since a high concentration of monomers is required to obtain a product of high molecular weight. Due to excessive polymerization conditions, the resulting polymer is highly branched with short and long side chains, which limits crystallinity to about 50% and leads to a relatively wide melting range.
